    In an effort to keep the citizens of Dauphin Island better informed, the Mayor and Town Council are pleased to distribute The Town Crier on a monthly basis. Our goal is to highlight the Council Meetings and other newsworthy events. The newsletter is not intended as a substitute for attending public meetings in person. Council Meetings are usually held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 PM.     The Town Council meetings are held at Town Hall every month. All meetings are open to the public, residents and visitors are encouraged to attend. The Town Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of every month. The meetings begin at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers located at 1011 Bienville Blvd., Dauphin Island, Alabama 36528. Agenda meetings are held on the first and third Monday nights prior to the Council Meetings. These meetings begin at 5:00 PM. You can place out tents vehicles, lawn chairs etc. to claim your space the morning of the parade. Items placed along the route must be removed at the conclusion of each parade or be subject to disposal during the post-parade clean-up process. Parade goers are also encouraged to only take as much space as needed for their respective group and to make room for others whenever possible. Dauphin Island Municipal Court: For anyone wanting to sign up for DRIVING SCHOOL instead of coming to court please call 251-861-5525 ext. 227. *Notice : Mobile County Health Department - Eastern Equine Encephalitis The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) recently reported that Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) was detected in a sentinel chicken on Dauphin Island. These types of tests are checked weekly and MCHD is taking necessary actions to reduce and/or eliminate this health risk. Additional sprayings are underway via land-based vehicles and airplane along with other treatments to reduce the mosquito population. Health officials have also reached out to island property owners to notify them that previously requested “no spray” areas will be temporarily suspended. Mosquitoes are most active during the early morning and evening time periods. You can reduce your exposure as follows; (a) Use an EPA-registered repellent with DEET (b) Wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts when outdoors (c) Stay/sleep in places with air conditioning and/or window and door screens and (d) Empty/remove standing water within your property.
